House IJburg by Marc Koehler Architects

The house is located on a small plot in IJburg; a suburb of Amsterdam. Designed as a vertical garden giving space to flora and fauna to grow in a densely urbanised area. Closed private spaces contrast with open collective spaces, that seem to have been ‘carved out’ from the solid volume as a continuous transparent void. In this way the interior space is visually and physically connected to the street, the garden and roof terraces.

Highbury Square

For 93 years Highbury stadium was energised by thousands of fans who would pile in to cheer on the world-renowned Arsenal football team. Following the team’s move to the new Emirates Stadium two years ago, the old art-deco arena is getting a new pulse as it is transformed into a luxury residential development.

The design, by Allies and Morrison will be used as 700 residential apartments and penthouse all ranging from 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The blocks encircling a two-acre communal garden space, cleverly divided along the old chalk lines of the pitch. This project is to be complete by 2010, so all Arsenal fans get your money ready!
